About Classic Country 980

KSGM signed on the air July 5, 1947 from Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, broadcasting at 1450 AM with 250 watts and a mission to deliver local news of interest to the Ste. Genevieve, Perryville, and Chester communities. In 1961 the station moved across the river to Chester, Illinois, improved its signal to the familiar 980 on the dial, and increased its power to 1,000 watts.

More than 75 years later, KSGM is still the river region's hometown station — now heard on 980 AM and 105.3 FM, and streaming everywhere through our app. We play the classic country you grew up with and keep you connected with local news every weekday.

And these days KSGM has a bigger focus on sports — all sports! Local, regional, and national, including live broadcasts from five area high schools: Valle Catholic and Ste. Genevieve in Ste. Genevieve, St. Vincent and Perryville in Perryville, and Chester in Chester, Illinois.
